What makes Christmas Special for you?

Sometimes we take for granted the little traditions and practices that we grew up with and don’t realize that these are all unique to each of us.  Even if you grow up in the same family, certain individuals will have different memories or expectations – and we don’t even realize it!  And sometimes, as we get older we just forget a little thing that we used to look forward to so much.  Traditions are created – and maintained – by sharing them with others.

What are your Christmas traditions? Favourite foods, opening presents, visiting, church. What makes Christmas really ‘christmas’ for you and what would you miss if it wasn’t there? Share your special memories and expectations and help extend – or strengthen – your own family traditions!

  1. Orange Rolls for breakfast (cinnamon rolls with orange flavored frosting)

The feeling of anticipation as we go around the room, opening one present at a time, of seeing the happiness on my parent’s or sibling’s face when they open my present to them, and the slight feeling of dread that maybe they won’t like it.

The anticipation of awaiting my turn to open a present. WHAT DID I GET?

The dried Italian salami in my stocking every year.

Taking the whole day off to play with all of our new stuff.

And of course, turkey dinner and pie :)
