A Modern Adventure Story

The art of story telling doesn’t receive as much attention in our modern society as it once did.  We have become so dependent on digital information exchange for practical purposes that we, as a society, have neglected the tradition of just telling good stories in favour of news and reality overload.  Sometimes I wonder if our modern social anxiety and sense of impending chaos is the result of spending too much time focused on the doom and gloom of news.  We’re so consumed by the availability of facts and figures we don’t allow ourselves time to wonder and dream – about anything.  With no hope and fantasy to balance our perspective, how can we have a balanced view of ourselves or our life?

Once upon a time wasn’t always just for children, but we’ve forgotten that.  Maybe it’s time to resurrect the art of story telling.  If you’d like to give it a try, here’s a good place to start: http://storyteller-spot.com/.  Our story teller blogger has just started relating a modern adventure story with wizards and knights and everyday challenges for a young man living in Chicago.  Give it a try with the first two chapters.  More importantly,  give yourself the gift of a few minutes every few days to forget about news and issues and crisis and problems, and just enjoy an old-fashioned story.

I know I’m looking forward to it!
