Well, the wedding week is coming to an end and we’re now in ‘return to Winnipeg’ mode. It’s been a whirlwind of a week since we arrived in Edmonton last Monday night to prepare for our eldest son’s marriage to his beloved. Plans for the wedding festivities were, to be accurate, ‘emerging’ – even at these final days. Despite this, everything has gone exactly as it should! From meeting the parents, to the final goodbyes this afternoon, this has been a wonderful, unique wedding experience. We are thankful for God’s blessings and gifts of perfect weather, perfect activities and wonderful time spent with family – old and new – and good friends. And when you think about it, that’s all a wedding should be!

How to do an authentic 21st Century Wedding
This is a TRUE 21st century wedding, leveraging online networking, email, Facebook, Twitter, Paypal and webcasting to do a wedding that is simple, affordable, reduced stress and allows geographically distant friends and family to participate the same as everyone else. Now, it doesn’t hurt that the happy couple are both working in the social media/engagement space and use these technologies 24/7, so this is their natural environment.
If you’d like to see how they are doing this, all the details are on this website, including how they met, ceremony information, webcast link (on the big day) and gift/donations information – including using the ‘traditional’ mail methods

I know it’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for a way to use social networking and media for what is normally a very ‘traditional’ event, keep an eye on this couple!
